Anupama: Letter
Thousands scents/ Thousands whispers
Come up--- From this unwrapped envelope
Thousand dreams run through/get hitched
I walk along with the smudged parallels/ Evening flowers
And the verdant sky
I walk along the boulevard
In drizzle
Walk along the moonlit sky
Walk into the canoe
The boatman sings castles and the princes/
Butterflies play up
Along the shore/
The waves come up
Lonely rain/ and the rainbows
Come closer
Undeterred/
The island celebrates
Get
Aged/ with its rumble strip
Anupama gets inundated/ intrigued
Me and my consequences
Snuggle around her/in the island
Atoned---
Sometime the chase continues/
Sometime get chased
Thousands scents/
Thousand whispers
Come up--
From this unwrapped envelope
Thousand dreams run through/get hitched
I walk along the smudged parallels/ evening flowers
And the verdant sky.
Life begets life. Energy creates energy. It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich.

Who was your dancer, I am asked.
You were the most radiant
dancing couple of the night!
two records spinning on the turntable
drew me in like big big eyes
I found myself whirling at the speed of light
through all-colours, no-colours and edge
embracing the beat of a wooden heart
with whom have I been dancing
the light that breaks forth from beyond my fingers
emanates from lines shaping a lucent shell
etched into the ground of my palms.
How did the shell-handed dark ocean of light remember
that I had risen from the furthest sea
there I was dancing for him, with him, dancing him
eons and eons ago
for all my life...

A Round Pair
Dr Kumarendra Mallick
Hyderabad
You played the usual trick,
Under the pretest of beauty
You gave men and women
Almond and fish-shaped eyes
With a narrow corner
To hold smiles and tear
Love and anger
Joys and fear, And designed for self
A lovely round pair
With no beginning
no end, always so wide
no secret corners
emotions known to us to hide.
You have a pan-view,
you see the whole and real
And not like us just a few,
More often virtual and untrue.
In your wheel of eyes,
pray, make us spokes of time
To forget "I, my and mine",
To echo your name with each stride
To measure that lie beyond all measures,
beyond the peripheries of the three worlds
The Moon, the Sun, the dawns and dusks
To step unto the sands and grass
Of a terrain- vast and ever new,
On the other side of human imagination,
Where peace and virtue appear as dew.

On my way
I stopped and pondered,
as he marred a valid point,
but before I could answer,
the other on the left replied..
"I was with you always,
encouraging your every move,
and it was I for whom,
you have to reach your goal.
You have to move one,
for the others are doing so,
if you wait for the others,
you will have nowhere to go."
"You have to make compromises,
for that's the way of life,
you have to compete,
give your all in this fight.
The fruits of your effort,
is waiting on the other side.
So, don't stop and keep ignoring,
whatever being said by the right!!"
Saying this the quarrel resumes,
as each one forcing there point,
I waited and saw both,
projections of my inner conscience.
I had to make peace,
as both were right,
and I told them my view,
on the whole fight.....
"Yes, its true that I neglected,
made a destination of mine,
and walked in a hurry,
to reach it on time.
I know I missed things around,
but had my part of it too..
to reach my goal is not all...
but the journey is desired."
"You both are my voice,
still you are in extremes,
and I will move on....
for my experience is on my side!!"
I quieted
as they both disappeared,
looking ahead, I continued,
On my way........

Morning
Pradipta Kumar Mohanty
Jharsuguda
The horizon obscures
by the shrouds of smoke
spurt from the funeral pyre
of a deceased
found in the nearby brewery.
A yell of scream
echoes in the air
as a mendicant
faces an attack of a hostile mob
for stealing a slice of loaf.
Really shocks
Alas ! Most people seem destitute
of common human feelings.
A gloss of revelry
spans across the ambient
as a new born little angle
brings an unprecedented bliss
for the family
next door.
But a craftsman beside
engrossed with his crafts
seems heedless
of all the happenings
in the morning.
The most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

You never know
how time goes..
like a wave
has touched or so
time flies like wind unseen
and undefined..
I stand in midst of crowd
to find the images of
time in me!
Time has wings to fly
but yes, never to return close by
even I memorize a moment
for few moments.
I forget I already have wasted
a time of coming future
and a good present..
what I had and what will I have
is question of time
but the fate has made me mime
still I stand to find
an answer to every question
my situation makes..
I am standing to
defeat the time and
to catch its wing and
make it mine..
I know one day
I may run before
time.. but
would I be
there to catch
the Time!

All life here is a stage or a circumstance in an unfolding progressive evolution of a spirit that has involved itself in matter and is labouring to manifest itself in that reluctant substance. This is the whole secret of earthly existence. Evolution in its essence is not the development of a more and more organized body or a more and more efficient life- these are only its machinery and outward circumstance. Evolution is the strife of a consciousness somnambulised in matter to wake and be free and find and possess itself and all its possibilities to the very utmost and wisest, to the very last and highest. Evolution is the emancipation of a self-revealing Soul secret in Form and Force, the slow becoming of Godhead, the growth of a spirit. In this evolution mental man is not the goal and end, the completing value, the highest last significance; he is too small and imperfect to be the crown of all the travail Nature. From the cold and metal to the plant, from the plant to the animal, from the animal to man, so much has she completed of her journey…. As from matter to life, from life to mind, so now she must pass from mind to supermind, from man to superman….
Editorial
“AmaOdisha” wishes heartily to the whole world on the auspicious arrival of the long awaited New Year. The year 2012 has been much talked about by scientists, philosophers, mathematicians and astrologers for a long period of time. Many of us believe that the world is going to experience remarkable changes geographically, scientifically or spiritually in this year. Human race may experience some positive evolution in terms of enhanced consciousness in this year. In other words, there would be a beginning of a new era - an era in which the evolution in human consciousness would show him the path for transforming his manhood to a stage of super human as had been mentioned by the Great Yogi Sri Aurobindo. But who really can ever tell what is stored in the future! Yet, we humans, the nonpareil creation of the almighty would never get tired thinking positive for the future. Because we know, our soul carrying the human body would always be selecting the befitting eco until full consciousness is achieved. That eco would be magnificently transformed with every successive evolution of consciousness. Our earth would be attaining youth again and again with every change in the level of consciousness.
Who brings about such transformation of consciousness? With every positive and creative activity made by man’s inquisitive mind, evolution is made. It is only the overpowering eagerness of man that transforms the level of consciousness to new heights and pushes forward life. Who can do such magic? Of course those who have desired for such evolution wholeheartedly and have sacrificed their individual comforting moments and other emotional desires and with love and devotion, have given all their labour and time for achieving the cherished condition. Its positive externality is in turn enjoyed by the humanity as a whole. This is how we have gained so much of experiences, right from the discovery of wheel to the super computers. Starting from the abysmal cosmos to the tiniest of cells, from mundane body to self realization, how wonderful inquisitive human mind’s journey is! Those humans, as the torch bearers for the humanity, lead the world towards a new marvelous world. This small creature bows down to those great humans with utmost devotion.
I am a very emotional creature. I laugh and cry with every little happening. Sometimes I get hurt for this quality in me. Yet I thank God for the very reason. Because I am emotional. I discover myself in the wondrous creation of writers; I don’t know how I remain in the flow of poetry; I dig up my subconscious on the abyss of the artists paintings; I don’t know how my being is lost in the sweet lyre of music; I hold all the changes in life like holding colourful butterflies and adorn them in my attire, and then my being is equaled with the solemnly adoring lap of nature. I am a wondering child amidst the flooding creation, sometimes covering myself under the shell of my emotions, questioning myself- why, what, how and when. I get depressed when I fail to get the answers. Who can really answer such absurd questions! Again, even if someone tries to help me finding the answers, it never satisfies my mind. But surprisingly I get my cherished answers. In some abstracted moments I discover my answer in a gorgeous line of a poet, in the theme of a story or in few words of a philosopher.
That answer happens to be a spotless white bird that removes all the ridged lines caused by worries from the face. Without any expectations, that white bird goes on distributing all its white. Everything of it is for others. That white bird airing messages of pervading conscious keeps me alive, whispering out the secrets of big achievements in tiniest parts of life. It sows the seeds of greatness in the ordinary. That whiteness makes vision clearer, hearing sharper and makes the disciples like me inclined towards consciousness. This is how I love to be a disciple of the white birds forever; love to accept all the wonders like very mundane things.
Begging to the wise and the brilliant, the bearers of white bird to drive the time to a different golden world where the humanity would be addressed as seekers of eternity and emotional disciples like me would be ever flowing towards the sea like enamoured rivers liberating out of the shell of questions made by emotions.
Esteemed Artist Priti Ghosh
Priti Ghosh is an eminent Indian spiritual artist and a resident of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. From her very childhood she has been staying at Puducherry in south India. She studied art from an early age under Master Artist Sri Sanjiban Biswas. She was also helped technically by eminent sadhaka artists of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, namely Jayantilal, Krishnalal, Prembhai and Shri Sanjiban Biswas. It was with the latter that she matured into an artist learning the technique of using water colours and oil colours in different moods of her paintings and thus widening her aesthetic perceptions. The Mother, who herself was a great artist guided and inspired Priti in her artistic development. Seeing a landscape painted by the young artist, the Mother had commented "photography can depict the external beauty of Nature far more faithfully than an artist. Try to draw whatever comes from within. My blessings will always be with you so that the artistic perception awakens in you." Under the love and guidance of the Divine Mother she bloomed as a spiritual artist experimenting with mystic and deeper world in her art. For her, art is the expression of visionary states depicting the drama of inner life where various aspiring forces working together for spiritual transformation. She exquisitely amalgamates the western concept of impressionism with Indian concept of mysticism in her art. All her paintings based on sheer abstraction have been acclaimed by viewers within and outside India. Her paintings have a language which speaks of the serene and inner beauty of Man and Nature. Her artistic spiritual disposition brings in a wave of spiritual feel in the domain of Indian art.
