Human or humanity, who is dead?

Niranjan Mishra

The sun was shining
Amidst a summer day,
Suddenly the stampede stopped, staring at the spot,
"What a horrifying accident," every body said.
The victim lying on the road,
had sustained injuries on head'
the road was red as mother earth had bled…
The little son was crying for help.
But alas! Hundreds gathered,
But none dared to touch,
everyone wanted to beat the site,
Counting victim's last pulse,
and some murmuring,” The course of law, ouch".

Oh, my God…..
Few wanted to stand staring at the sight;
few wanted to leave, as if nothing had happened,
And the rest beautifully exercised,
Their duty to be there.
The crowd slowly dissolved,
Declaring, “He is dead".
With the son crying,
Is humanity at stake!

The sun drowned, ending the black day,
and bringing a sweet beginning, for a few eyes,
But two twinkling eyes still dry
Querying “Human or humanity, who is dead”?
