Behavioural disorder of the child and homeopathic treatment

Nowadays behavioural therapy; a new branch of therapeutic system is gaining ground. This system says that the behavioural disorders (BD) like obsessive compulsion disorder, depression, anxiety, apprehension etc. are more prevalent amongst those in children and adults, where in childhood there is familial, parental, social disturbances in a depth. This branch aim at the emotional well being of the children. In a recently held conference in Chennai, the researchers from UK said that the BD could be attributed to lack of care in childhood. They also mentioned that the clinical psychologist aim at providing total rehabilitation to such people. Their research is on to find out the risk factors of BD. 

Homeopathy in this scenario has the solution ready 200 years ago by its father Dr Hahnemann. From the very beginning homeopathy advocates holistic cure that is the cure of body, mind and spirit. Hence while treating any chronic disease; the sincere homeopath takes the psychological status of the patient into consideration. There is a say that homeopathy suits the children best. It is because in case of children the behavioral expression is very transparent unlike the elders. During consultation with the doctor, the‘sulphur’ (a medicine) type of child does not hesitate to disturb the books and instruments kept on the doctor’s table expressing his restlessness and extra ordinary enthusiasm. A ‘Medorrhinum’ (a medicine) type of child, carelessly commands his parents differently. 

Cause of behavioral disorder in child- 

Researchers say that the factors like neglect, poverty, abuse etc. in childhood give rise to such problems. But Homeopathy goes one step ahead. It says that the psychological condition of the mother during pregnancy is the fundamental cause. The above given causes are the mere exciting causes. Otherwise every poor child would have become a victim of BD. 

Treatment- 

Treatment has to be emphasized more in case of symptoms of BD in children. After treatment only the step of rehabilitation comes. How homeopathy treats? Homeopathy considers the uncommon, peculiar behavioural expression of the child. Like a child bangs his head on wall during the fits of anger, another speaks authoritatively like an adult etc. These are the characters leading to indicated remedies. Such remedies are not repeated frequently and has to be given in high potency in single dose. When the behavioral expression is clubbed with the physical ailments and then the indicated remedy is given, then not only the physical well being but also the emotional well being returns. Prevention- 

During pregnancy the mother has to be given constitutional homeopathic treatment. This is done on the basis of past and present medical history, family medical history, physical and psychological symptom of the mother.
